Step by Step Blast Design and Burden Reporting

Step by Step Blast Design and Burden Reporting

The Shot Plan tool lets the user design and plan blast with precision. User can locate and place the drilled holes with precision, obtain reports and analyze drill patterns.

Strayos's Shot Planning tool allows the user to reproduce, share and redesign all the work without much effort.

Follow the steps as shown below to create a new Shot Plan.

STEP 1 : Shot plan pattern setup

Start by clicking on Shot Plan in the left panel of your dashboard.

After 3D model is finished loading, you will see options to start your shot plan design.

New Shot Plan: Allows you to create your own pattern design.

Upload Hole Data: If you already have X,Y,Z of your hole data then you can upload that as a CSV file and the holes will be automatically placed in the map.

Create From Drill Hole AI: This option allows users to create their shot plan from the results carried over from the drill hole AI module. The Drill Hole AI must be run in order to use this function in the drill design.

Import Later: Users can import a custom layer in the Drill design module to overlay their model. These layers can be in the file types such as DXF, KML, PDF, PNG/JPG.

When designing the Shot Plan using Strayos, users will be asked to draw an AB line. The AB line is more of a guide and reference for the length and direction of the shot. Once drawn, a window will appear where the user can enter the Shot Plan properties.

Make sure the red arrow marked on the AB Line indicating the blast direction is oriented towards the bench face. If it's in the opposite direction, use the Flip shot button on top of the Shot Plan editor to rotate it.

You can select your desired toe elevation by moving your mouse in 3D model and visually looking the exact location. Double click in 3D model to finalize the toe elevation.

Once you Click "Done" ..your shotplan will be setup and holes and rows will appear in the map.

Important Note: There must be atleast one AB line to run the burden calculation. AB Line sets the azimuth of the shot design measured from the true north. Hence setting the right blast direction is important. Since any new rows will be added behind the AB Line and away from the blast direction user should make sure that the red arrow marked on the AB Line is oriented correctly.

By double clicking on a hole in the 2D POV, users can edit the hole properties.

You can also move holes to a desired spot by dragging and dropping it

When you move the holes, the hole profile also gets updated with the new position info.

In the 3D POV, users can toggle between a 3D Burden Heat Map, 3D Burden by hole, or 2D Burdens. The burden thresholds can be adjusted by the user, where red will showcase minimal or inadequate burden, green meets the criteria, and blue exceeding/excessive burden. These colors will be seen consistently throughout the modeling.

In the Profile POV, users can also manipulate the hole positions by clicking and dragging or using the properties window. The Burdens will adjust accordingly.

You can edit the toe elevation and sub drill info profile POV as well.

STEP 2: Reporting Burden

Once the Shot Plan is complete, users can visualize the Shot Volume and bounding shapes for each borehole. They will also see a table on the left-hand side of volume per borehole calculated.

Under the Export/Report options, users can send their Shot Plans to GPS equipment via several CSV formats, or to GPS-equipped smart drills. There is also an option to send to the Strayos Fielder App for drillers to then see on their mobile devices in the field.

STEP 3 : Generating Reports

To generate the Burden Report, users will select the first report option "Burden Report".

The first page that appears will allow users to customize the information within the report. Here, they can include or remove pages and enter burden threshold values that will appear on the burden profiles.
