Understanding Slope Stability AI

Strayos' Slope Stability AI is a tool that allows users to automatically obtain a Safety Factor rating for their site's slope analysis. Strayos utilizes the 3D model in combination with Rock Mass data, and specific material properties to calculate the safety factor. Methods of 3D limit equilibrium are included in the fundamental analysis methods of Strayos' Slope Stability, which are commonly used in engineering practice. The Modified Bishops method is used to analyze circular slip surfaces. In this method, the safety factor is defined as the potential sliding along a failure surface.

To properly use the module, knowledge of the material's density, friction angle, and cohesive strength will be needed.

First, navigate to the module on the left-hand menu:

Next, users will need to add their material with its properties. This is where the Denisty, Cohesive Strength, and Friction angle will entered.

Following the addition of materials, users will need to "Add Task". This is where an area will need to be defined to generate the results.

Once the area has been processed, a colored heat map will be shown to represent the Safety Factor with the area of interest. The safety factor value shown at the bottom of the screen shows the value at the point of the cursor as it moves across the heat map.

Lastly, there is a Slope Stability report that can be generated to share the results of the analysis. There are also two .TIF downloads that are available to bring into other software for further analysis.
