How to Use Back Break Analysis Tool

Strayos's back break analysis tool provides users with valuable post-blast data that measures and quantifies back break. The tool will show the distance as well as the volume of back break, in reference to a prior blast.

To begin, there must be a blast that is linked as a pre-blast project. This can be done in the upload stage, or after the project has been processed.

Post-Process Linking of Projects:

With the projects linked, navigate to the project with the resulting highwall from the initial blast. This will be the project which you are looking to quantify the back break from.

Under Drill and Blast, Blast Performance, users will find "Back Break Analysis"

When selected, Strayos will show the 3D model with a heat map on the face. This is where users can adjust thresholds to the values and colors they wish, as well as annotate sections of the highwall to measure back break.

To report a specific area, select Report Area, and Trace the Bench Face:

Then, by clicking and tracing along the face (click-to-end annotation) users will define the length of the face where back break will be measured for volume. In this case, "Echo Papa" was drawn, where a volume is shown on the left hand toolbar, and a graph showing back break distance is shown below.

The back break analysis references the back row of the previous shot, and draws distances to the newly formed crest.
