Getting started

Setting up the site product list 

The first time you enter the Loading Design module for a site you will be asked to set up the site product list. This is where you set the shortlist of products that you use on site. This makes it easier for you to find them when you are in the module. You can always go back and edit the list later so don't worry if you forget something the first time.

Strayos makes it easy to quickly load your shots with only a few clicks.

When you enter the Loading Design module for the first time, you'll see a pop up providing shortcuts for getting started. You can always make modifications later so don't worry if you can't get it perfect. 

Load all holes to stem height

This option will load all the holes in the pattern with a single type of explosive and primer.

You can choose between single priming, double priming or a combination where only holes above a certain length will be double primed and the rest single primed.

Load all holes from loading rules

This option allows you to load the entire shot with a pre-defined loading rule set. If you haven't made any loading rule sets for your site you will be asked if you'd like to create one.

Skip straight to shot

This option will take you straight to the main screen of the loading module without applying any loading to the holes.

Loading rules

Loading rules are the way you edit the loading for multiple holes at once.

Basically, you are creating a set of templates that get applied to different holes depending on things like their length or inclination etc.

For example, you could tell it to load all angled holes with a packaged product and all vertical holes with ANFO.

Creating loading rules

You can create or edit loading rules from this pencil icon in the sidebar

This plus button then lets you create a new rule set

Once you have given your new rule set a name, click the plus button under the 'Conditions' section. You will then see this screen below where you can add multiple rules and edit the template associated with each rule.

For each hole, the algorithm will work down the list of rules from top to bottom checking if it meets the conditions.

For example, below you can see how to create the rule for loading all angled holes (inclination > 0) with 2m of stemming and then packaged product (Loading Rule A). All other holes will be loaded according to Loading Rule B as it has the 'ELSE' condition.

The Deck List on the right hand side represents the loading template that will be applied to all holes meeting the conditions highlighted on the left.

Important: The 'Var' checkbox chooses which decks will be stretched to fill the actual length of the hole

In the picture above, only the packaged product has the 'Var' box checked so the stemming will always stay at 2m no matter what the length of the hole is.

If the hole was under 2m you would receive an error when trying to load the hole (see below)

To edit the Deck List for Loading Rule B you can click on that rule in the Loading Rule list on the left. The Deck List on the right will now represent the Deck List for Loading Rule B.

In the example below, the algorithm will load all non-angled holes with 2m of stemming and then ANFO for the rest of the hole.

Applying loading rules

You can click a hole on the map to select it or you can hold the 'ctrl' key (or 'cmd' key for Mac) and drag on the map to select multiple holes at once.

Then select the loading rule set you want from the drop down menu in the Loading Rules section of the sidebar and click 'Apply to Selected Holes'

If you'd like to apply the loading rule to all holes you can click 'Apply to All Holes'. In this case you do not need to make any hole selection.

You will receive a confirmation pop up with details on which Rule was applied to each hole. You will also see here if there were any errors in applying the rules.

The map will then show you which holes are loaded and which rule has been applied to each hole

Note: If you apply loading rules to a hole that already has loading it will override the existing loading

Editing the loading for individual holes

If you left click a single hole you can then click the 'Edit Loading in Selected Hole' button in the sidebar to edit it. You can also double click on the hole to bring up the same form.

You can edit loading for an individual hole in a similar way to creating loading rules. Add a deck for each segment of the hole and then specify the product properties and add primers.

Users can also edit the loading in groupings of holes. To do so, Ctrl + Click and drag the grouping of holes you wish to edit the loading within. Here, you can adjust the loading (similar as above for individual holes) for the selected holes on the model.

Printing Loading Reports

The 'Reports' section of the sidebar allows you to export PDF reports that you can print.

Loading Sheets

This report shows a table with the amount of product that is designed for each hole. This would be used by the truck operator and blaster in the field to plan and record how much product is being loaded into each hole.

Note: You can select the paper size in the top right corner for printing in different sizes

Loading Rules

This report gives a summary of the loading rule sets used in the current shot. It can be used in the field to help make loading change decisions if conditions change. For example if a hole has collapsed and is now far shorter than designed, the blaster can refer to the loading rules sheet to see how that hole should be loaded.

Loading Usage

This report shows the total amount of each product required for loading this shot. This is useful for planning the amount to pull from the magazine and how many trucks are needed to load a shot.

Creating a Deck

When creating a deck , navigate to the individual hole and double click on it within the loading module. When the loading diagram appears, you can add a deck in the "deck list" whether it is a stemming or air deck. Once complete, you can save the deck and also apply it to all holes if needed.

Users can also edit the number of boosters per detonator by changing the number show next to primer selection.
