FAQs: Model Elevation and Boundaries

FAQs: Model Elevation and Boundaries

Q. My Model elevations are off? Why is there a difference between model elevations in the app as compared to the ones measured on the field?
The GPS on a standard drone off-the-shelf is pretty good in the Lat and Long dimensions but not great at measuring elevation.

The solutions:

a. Use the "Calibrate elevation" tool in the toolbar at the top of the screen. This will shift the whole model vertically up or down based on a single known elevation point.

b. Use Ground Control Points when uploading the data to adjust the model to a set of 5+ known points.

c. Use a PPK or RTK drone to ensure all drone photos are tagged with correct elevations.

Q. Model edges are cut off or melted?
Ans: The images uploaded by the user are used to create a 3D model. For creating the 3D model, each feature in the images is blended and matched together to create one structure.
At times, there isn't enough data around the edges for all the features to be matched and blended together accurately resulting in melted structures or cut off edges. Hence, it is advisable to cover an extra margin of 20 ft around the edge of the data, the user wants to analyze.
