Blast Exclusion Zone

Blast Exclusion Zone

The Blast Exclusion Zone tool in Strayos is used to estimate safety zones around a blast area based on predicted flyrock distances. This prediction is influenced by multiple parameters within the Richard and Moore empirical model, particularly the Empirical Constant K, as well as the equipment and personnel safety factors. The system uses these values to dynamically generate exclusion zones directly on the blast map.

This requires having the drill design completed with loading and timing.

Strayos includes two separate multipliers:

  • Equipment Safety Factor (e.g., 2x)

  • Personnel Safety Factor (e.g., 8x)

Toggling Faceburst, Cratering, or Rifling in the Face or Non-Face Hole Settings adjusts the predicted exclusion zone distance by accounting for different types of rock movement, where enabling more effects will typically increase the calculated exclusion zones due to higher fragmentation and ejection risk in those specific hole types.
