Strayos shot layout feature allows to optimize your hole placement based on your set burden threshold.
Strayos automatically detects the crest & toe in highwall and generates a shotplan layout supporting line.
STEPS:
- Go to Shotplan
- Toggle on ‘Crest & Toe’ button in the map
- Indicate the burden distance value in the input form below ‘Crest & Toe’ button
- A blue line appears which indicates the area with distance to the crest line being input value will be displayed on 2D map.
In the picture below, the burden threshold is set as 5 meters, Orange line is the crest line, Yellow line is the toe line. The Blue line is the supporting line which indicates the area whose distance to crest line is 5 meters.
When to use:
In blast design module, the supporting line can provide an estimated suggestion where to place holes to get your expected burden values. (Just set the burden threshold value, move the holes around the supporting line). To get an accurate burden profile values, turn on ‘View hole profile’ and see the accurate result for burden analysis.
Logic behind scene:
We implemented machine learning approach and gradient filter on source images and Digital Elevation Model to detect crest lines and toe lines of a bench (orange and yellow lines in the above screenshot respectively).
Then we implemented distance transforming algorithm on crest line data, Calculate the area on 2D map with specific distance to crest line. We use the distance to crest line to simulate burden values of holes. Whenever the value of Burden Threshold input is changed in the text box, distance transforming algorithm will be ran and will update the position of blue lines. These blue lines can be used as a supporting tool, indicating where to place holes.
Advantage of using this method: Fast, accurate shotplan layout. Just indicate the burden value that you want, and move the holes on the top of blue lines. Video demo below:
Another method of shot layout to adjust hole positions for minimum burdens
Keep ‘View Hole Profile’ open, select one hole and adjust hole position use ‘Along shotline’ and ‘Away shotpline’ input form OR Up/Down buttons to adjust hole’s position. As the hole moves, burdens and graph in hole profile view will be automatically updated.
This method is bit slow as it calculates burden in the background hole by hole to update hole profile view. Video demo below.
